Conversation Design Process

Conversation Design is the art and science of crafting an experience between a virtual assistant and the end user. The end objective is to craft conversations that are natural and intuitive while scaling these conversations across platforms for all users. The below illustration defines the Conversation Design Process I'd like to follow while working on a particular project.

Preparation Stage: It is the initial stage of the project where I gather business requirements, perform brand research and create a user persona and bot persona for the first draft of the design.
Initial Design: During this stage, I'd set up a flowchart for my designs. There are several options available for flowcharting, like Lucidcharts, Draw.io, Whimsical, Figma etc. My personal favorite is Lucidcharts as it lets me define each and every step of Conversation Designs on one canvas. I'd also figure out the platform where the chatbot will be deployed and start creating a first draft of my design. The first draft of design is also known as Happy flow design.
Final Design: Once I have the first draft design, I'd present it to the client and business stakeholders for the initial round of feedback. Following the feedback, I'd rework the design to include more details, including API/code blocks, and all edge and error cases. This is the second draft of the design where I will ask for another round of feedback and finalization. Once the design is locked and approved, it will further proceed for development.
Launch Phase: Once the bot is fully developed, it will go for a round of user experience testing or the Wizard of Oz test. After the testing, the bot may have to make certain cosmetic or copy changes. Once the final round of changes is made, the bot will be ready to go live. I'd also perform a round of UX Retro and Analysis to check the performance of the bot and look at the actual user data to make any kind of enhancements or improvements.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
